YouTube TV is expanding its multiview feature to allow full customization, enabling subscribers to select any content for simultaneous viewing. The announcement came from YouTube CEO Neal Mohan in his annual letter published Wednesday.
YouTube TV first introduced multiview in 2023 for sports, broadcasting up to four channels concurrently. The feature later extended to news and weather, initially with a preselected list of channels including CNN, MSNBC, HGTV, and Food Network. Testing for user-customized channel selection began subsequently with a small user group. This new capability will facilitate watching diverse genres simultaneously on one screen.
To access multiview, users press the down button on their remote, select the Multiview icon or the “Watch Multiview” option, and then choose up to three additional live channels.
Mohan also stated YouTube TV will launch genre-specific channel packages, offering specialized bundles for sports, news, family programming, or entertainment. Cost and launch dates for these packages were not disclosed.
