NXT, the WWE developmental brand, is running its next live event this coming Saturday. A double bill of The Great American Bash and Saturday Night’s Main Event is overshadowed by the imminent retirement of Goldberg.
However, that’s not to put NXT down in any capacity. The show should be good, as with most of the current Shawn Michaels-led era. NXT has been good fun to tune into, with a fresher style than the main roster seems to be languishing in. Segments outside of the arena, like this week’s Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe segment, are genuinely good fun, despite the low-grade acting.
However, sportsbooks are only presenting odds for either three of the five matches, not all five on the card. As such, the Jasper Troy vs Je’Von Evans match and NXT Men’s North American title match aren’t available, due to having no odds to bet on as of right now.
These odds are sourced from Paddy Power and Sportsbet. This is not gambling advice.
NXT Great American Bash odds NXT Championship matchIt’s unfortunate we can’t really talk about the North American Championship for the men, due to no odds available. However, with Ricky Saints winning the gauntlet match against The Vanity Project to win a chance at the match, it’d be a feel-good moment to see Saints pick up the win and cement himself properly in NXT.
This show is taking place the day before Evolution, the all-women’s event. As such, Jordynne Grace wouldn’t have potentially won her match against Jacy Jayne. The assumption is that Grace and Monroe will win, as Blake Monroe is being geared up to be NXT’s next big project after becoming a fan favorite over in the competing federation, All Elite Wrestling.
Grace and Monroe are clearly being booked in a way that will eventually lead to a bust-up and a chase for the belt. Last month, Jordynne Grace was reportedly moving up to the main roster, but I can see the need to have her win a belt and drop it to Monroe to continue building her up in the WWE fan’s eyes.
As for the NXT Women’s North American title match, odds are pointing to Sol Ruca continuing her reign, and there’s no reason not to believe the smart money.
Meanwhile, the NXT Championship is being predicted to also be a “And still” match. Femi has been champ since January, and there’s no real reason for him to drop it now. Yoshiki Inamura has been fairly dominant on NXT, and if he did win, it could easily lead to a deeper feud between the two.
I do think that Inamura might have an outside chance, as on the most recent episode of NXT, a package featuring NOAH legends The Great Muta, Naomichi Marufuji, Ulka Sasaki, and Kaito Kiyomiya was all shown giving their support to the Japanese wrestler.
It’d certainly shake up the landscape and potentially build on the foundations of the relationship both WWE and Pro Wrestling NOAH have been working on.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event oddsThere are currently only three matches announced for Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME). Recent events have typically had five matches, so the card could be subject to change.
WWE World Heavyweight ChampionshipFirst, let’s talk about the two singles matches. These are very by-the-numbers matches typically on these SNME shows, and these are very by-the-numbers match-ups. Here, we should expect to see Seth Rollins win over LA Knight, furthering his new dominant run.
I would also say to expect some shenanigans to happen in the match with Rollins’ new group, featuring Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman. This is mostly stemming from last time.
For the Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre match, it’d be silly to follow any money. These types of matches typically fall into however the creative team in the back is feeling that day. Lick your finger, stick it in the air, and follow your heart, I guess.
Gunther vs GoldbergNow, the match that is also daft to gamble any other way on, Goldberg vs Gunther in Goldberg’s retirement match. The hard-hitting WCW legend is finally properly retiring after dipping out of the ring in 2004, returning in 2016, and subsequently losing all good will from the fans, as it was clear that he just couldn’t go anymore.
Looking back on Goldberg’s careerGoldberg is and always will be a legend within wrestling. His WCW run was wild, showing just how good they could book someone when it wasn’t impeded by has-been losers like Hulk Hogan. His time in WWE after WCW was bought out by Vince McMahon was a complete bust, with McMahon booking Goldberg into the dirt until he just gave up and left in his infamous Brock Lesnar match.
He returned to the WWE in 2016, appearing on and off after closing out the Lesnar feud over a decade later. That initial Lesnar/Goldberg match was a spectacular shock, with him beating Lesnar clean in under two minutes. Goldberg was then effectively shunted into the title scene, beating Kevin Owens for the Universal title, in what is probably one of the shoddiest moments of that era of WWE.
Goldberg’s subsequent matches were all mostly duds, too. The powerhouse wasn’t used properly, and the spectacle was drawing away from what the fans really wanted.
Gunther has the pleasure of retiring GoldbergNow, WWE’s new dominant force, Gunther, will retire Goldberg. I have no idea how the match will go, but there’s no chance that he’s retiring with the belt. As with any good retirement match in wrestling, the wrestler goes out on their back.
Who knows what the quality of the match will actually be like, but with only three matches on the card so far, could we see Seth Rollins cash in his Money in the Bank contract on a tired Gunther? Possibly.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event airs on YouTube internationally and on Peacock in the US at 8 ET/ 5 PT. NXT airs before at 2:30 ET/11:30 PT.
