TikTok launches secret bouncing game inside DMs
TikTok has introduced a secret emoji game in direct messages that allows users to engage in a competitive bouncing challenge. Players bounce across alligators while avoiding skeleton alligators, with the aim of achieving the highest score.
This game is accessible globally in both one-on-one and group chats. Players enter the game by sending any single emoji in a chat and clicking on it. They can see their own score and their opponent’s high score displayed during gameplay.
The gameplay involves bouncing from alligator to alligator, with broken alligators disappearing after one jump. Players can receive speed boosts by landing on floating emojis or alligators equipped with props.
If players fail to land on an alligator or land on a skeleton, they end the game. TikTok stated this game was designed to enhance fun and competition within its messaging feature.
TikTok’s new game concept follows a similar hidden emoji game introduced by Instagram two years ago, where players use a paddle to keep an emoji bouncing. Recent developments in the industry show other platforms, such as Meta’s Threads, are also investigating DM games, with a basketball game currently in internal testing.
According to TikTok, the game allows for an engaging way to interact and compete among users, reflecting a broader trend of gamification in messaging across social media platforms.
