Spotify just officially reinvented its podcast discovery game

Spotify has begun rolling out new mobile features to improve podcast discovery and creator reach, effective May 28, 2025. These updates aim to simplify how users find, follow, and engage with podcasts, audio, and video content.

A key update focuses on enhancing podcast discovery on the Home screen. Users will now see podcast and video podcast recommendations, sometimes accompanied by explanations of why they might be of interest. This feature aims to balance familiar content with new suggestions, thus providing creators increased opportunities to connect with listeners.

Early user feedback indicates increased engagement, saving, and liking of podcasts as a result of these changes.

Another feature consolidates new episodes from followed podcasts into a single “Podcasts Following” feed within the main Podcast feed on the Home screen. This is intended to streamline access to the latest content from favorite creators.

The platform is also introducing an “In this episode” section, which will roll out globally in the coming weeks. This feature enables creators to link directly to other content mentioned in their podcasts, such as other podcasts, songs, audiobooks, and playlists. This integration supports fans who wish to explore content further and assists creators working across various formats.

Spotify is enhancing its comments section with threaded replies and emoji reactions. These tools are designed to deepen conversations between creators and users. Creators retain control over the comments experience through their Spotify for Creators account, where they can manage comment visibility or opt out of the feature entirely for specific shows or episodes.
