DigitalChatStation reports that the Xiaomi 16 series, Magic 8 series, Realme GT 8 Pro, and iQOO 15 are currently in the pre-launch promotional phase, primarily due to their incorporation of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. These devices are expected to be among the initial models to showcase the capabilities of this new chip in the current year.
Based on the order presented, the Xiaomi 16 series, including the Ultra model, is projected to be the first to officially feature the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Xiaomi 16 series is tentatively scheduled for launch in September. Despite the absence of official confirmation from Xiaomi regarding the release date, numerous leaks have suggested a target unveiling timeframe approximately one month from now.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is internally designated as SM8850. Specifications include a central processing unit (CPU), identified as Qualcomm’s proprietary Oryon CPU, clocked at a frequency of 4.6GHz. The graphics processing unit (GPU) operates at 1.2GHz. The chipset is based on the TSMC N3P (3nm) process and is integrated with an Adreno 840 GPU.
Additional details regarding the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 are expected to surface in late September, when Qualcomm is slated to formally present its latest flagship chipset. Until that time, the Xiaomi 16 is anticipated to be the first smartphone model to feature the newest Qualcomm processor available in the market.
