New Jersey gaming revenue sees rise in April, despite other declining figures
The total gaming revenue in New Jersey saw a 5% increase in April 2025 when compared to the April of 2024, despite sports wagering declining.
The ‘sports wagering gross revenue’ for casinos, racetracks, and their partners amounted to $90.5 million in April 2025 which reflects a 14.8% decrease from last year. In April 2024, the amount was $106.2 million.
“Year-to-date Sports Wagering Gross Revenue was $357.6 million through April 2025, reflecting a decrease of 17.6% when compared to $434.2 million reported for the prior year-to-date period.”
This didn’t impact too significantly on the overall revenue though as this came in at $536.6 million which is a 5% growth compared to the $510.9 million from the same month last year.
“Year-to date Total Gaming Revenue was $2.12 billion through April 2025, reflecting 3.1% growth when compared to $2.06 billion reported for the prior year-to-date period,” the report from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement states.
The government agency is responsible for enforcing the Casino Control Act in New Jersey. It investigates, issues reports, and challenges the qualifications of individual and corporate applicants for casino and casino-related licenses, along with reviewing and auditing casino-hotel operations and more.
New Jersey sports wagering gross revenue is down in AprilWhile sports wagering gross revenue was down, ‘internet gaming win’ has seen a massive 25.2% growth as it saw $235.2 million in April. Previously, this was $187.9 million.
“Year-to-date Internet Gaming Win was $908.4 million through April 2025, reflecting growth of 21.0% when compared to $750.7 million for the prior year-to-date period.”
As for ‘casino win’ for the nine casino hotels, this was $211.0 million for April 2025 which is a 2.7% decrease when compared to $216.8 million reported for April 2024.
“Year-to-date Casino Win was $855.4 million through April 2025, reflecting a decrease of 2.0% compared to the prior year-to-date period.”
The reasons behind these decreases, and the increase seen in internet gaming, hasn’t been disclosed by the authorities. The Division of Gaming Enforcement will continue to post monthly gross revenue reports via their online system.
