Global Payments Says New Point-of-Sale Software Is Resonating With Merchants

DATE POSTED:November 4, 2025

Global Payments’ new point-of-sale software, Genius, has been resonating with merchants since the launch of its configurations for restaurants and retail in the second quarter, executives said Tuesday (Nov. 4) during the company’s third quarter earnings call.

The company also sees opportunities in its plans to become a pure-play merchant solutions provider and to enable agentic commerce for its customers.

“In the markets where we have launched Genius, sales to new locations increased by more than 20% year over year during the third quarter, with new sales ramping up nicely throughout the quarter,” Global Payments CEO and Director Cameron Bready said during the call. “In fact, monthly recurring revenue from new sales increased 75% from June to September, and the average deal size more than doubled. This rapid uplift in new sales demonstrates how well Genius is resonating in the market.”

When announcing the launch of Genius for Retail in June, Global Payments said in a press release that this point-of-sale software for small and medium-sized retail businesses would initially be available in the United States before launching in other geographies throughout the year. The company also said it would add retail configures for other types of businesses.

Bready said during Tuesday’s call that following the success of the SMB-focused Genius configurations for restaurants and retail, Global Payments expanded the software’s feature set in September to support enterprises and in October to support higher education institutions.

“While it’s still very early for Genius in the enterprise space, we have also already been selected by franchisees of several leading QSR [quick-service restaurant] brands to deploy Genius across more than 400 locations,” Bready said.

Global Payments has also expanded the geographic reach of Genius. The software is now available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Austria. The company expects to expand it to Germany by the end of the year; to Ireland, Spain and the Czech Republic in early 2026; and to Romania, Poland and Australia after that, according to a presentation released Tuesday.

The company also sees opportunities in its planned acquisition of Worldpay and divestiture of Issuer Solutions, Bready said, adding that Global Payments expects both transactions to close in the first quarter of 2026.

The United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority cleared the company’s anticipated acquisition of Worldpay on Oct. 20.

“Naturally, our teams are eager to complete the Worldpay transaction and begin unlocking the compelling opportunities it presents, including accelerating our strategy to transform Global Payments into a pure-play merchant solutions provider with sustainable growth, leading scale, focused investments and meaningful value creation,” Bready said.

Global Payments is also preparing for agentic commerce, in part through a new partnership with Google to enable that commerce using the Agent Payments Protocol.

“We are helping our customers and partners to successfully enter this emerging commerce channel by building bridges between protocols to enable our merchants to accept all agentic payment types,” Bready said.
