Retired NFL legend Adrian Peterson has been filmed getting into a fist fight during a poker game. The star and his reported friend got into the bust-up after a dispute about a recent hand got heated.
At JokerStars in Houston, Texas, on May 27, Peterson and his friend got into a fight. The video, which surfaced after being acquired by TMZ, has now gone viral, spreading across different social media platforms.
While Peterson has a storied legal history, he stated in an interview with TMZ that the incident was between two friends. He claims that they are now “cool”:
“Me and the guy, we’re cool. We’ve known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows and that was it.
“I felt really bad, it’s a situation where I kind of regret it.”
TMZ states that Peterson’s love of poker resulted in the interview being conducted at JokerStars.
Adrian Peterson legally unscathed after viral poker fightPolice involvement was turned down, and JokerStars hasn’t banned either Peterson or the friend. However, the fight did leave the two bloodied, but Peterson claims it was due to falling over rather than having his face punched several times.
According to TMZ, alcohol was involved, which Peterson has a history with. In April, after attending to the Minnesota Vikings’ draft party, he was found drunk behind the wheel and arrested on a fourth-degree driving while intoxicated charge.
Adrian Peterson has an extensive career in the NFL, having been named the 2012 Most Valuable Player. In 2019, he won the Art Rooney Award for outstanding sportsmanship. He played for the NFL across several teams, most notably for the Minnesota Vikings from 2007 to 2016. After this, he played for other teams up until his retirement in 2023, but was unsigned for 2022 and 2023, resulting in him following through with his retirement.
