Apple has rolled out the first developer beta of iOS 26.5, as well as iPadOS 26.5, macOS 26.5, visionOS 26.5, and watchOS 26.5. This release follows the stable versions of iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 that became available just one week prior.
The iOS 26.5 beta 1 update includes minor changes and several bug fixes. According to the release notes, developers will notice new purchase options in the App Store with this update.
This beta version introduces a new ‘Suggested Places’ section in the Maps app, consistent with Apple’s strategy to integrate advertising into its services. The section will appear within the search box of the app.
Additional features in the iOS 26.5 beta include RCS messaging support, Live Activities support for third-party accessories within the EU, and improved accessory pairing. A new Inuktitut keyboard layout is also part of this update.
The update enhances options for sharing message attachments between iPhone and Android users. Furthermore, references to a ‘Year in Review for 2026’ feature have been discovered in Apple Books.
Apple regularly updates its operating systems, enhancing user experience and integrating new functionalities. The iOS 26.5 beta reflects continuing efforts to bolster connectivity and user engagement across its platforms.
